Working Environment Offshore - Safety- & health related conditions

Learn how to work offshore in the Safety Organisation on board in order to protect the health, safety and working environment.

The course Working Environment Offshore (§14 Safety- & health related conditions) at Maersk Training gives the participants introductions to the duties of the Safety Organisation including identification of near miss accidents and accident investigation reporting. The participants will learn learn and practice the principles for the work in the Safety Organisation on board including analyzing of situations, problem solving models, meeting techniques and communication exercises.

Lecture by officers from Danish Energy Agency is included in the course at Maersk Training. 

Course Content

Danish safety and working environment legislation

  • Definitions and corresponding procedures in the Company
  • Introductions to the duties and principles of the Safety Organisation
  • Analysing of situations
  • Problem solving models
  • Meeting techniques and communication exercises
  • Effects of short and long periods of exposure to chemicals
  • Precautions and measures to help avoid damage to health, safety and environment
  • Chemicals and required identification marking
  • Work Place Instruction “Arbejdsplads Brugsanvisning”
  • Daily safety routines including work permit system
  • Practical exercise in how to make a risk assessment
  • Cases and lessons learnt
  • The blame-free philosophy and the accountability for safety philosophy
  • Visit and practical exercise on a work-site
  • Paperwork in the Safety Organisation
  • Identification of near-miss accidents
  • Accident investigation and required reporting
  • Lecture by officers from Danish Energy Agency

Course Objectives 

  • In groups the participants will work with the Danish Safety and Working Environment legislation and the corresponding procedures in their company.
  • Learn and practice the principles for the work in the Safety Organisation on board including analyzing of situations, problem solving models, meeting techniques and communication exercises.
  • Handling of chemicals with their required identification marking and other exposures in the working environment which can affect the health on short-term and long-term basis.
  • The available precautions and measures that can help to avoid damage to health, safety and environment.
  • Introductions to the duties of the Safety Organisation including identification of near miss accidents and accident investigation reporting.
  • Practice how to make a Risk Assessment and a Work Place Instruction.
  • Daily safety routines on board including the Work Permit System.
  • Lecture by officers from Danish Energy Agency is included.

The course is targeted people who works offshore and wants to learn how to work in the Safety Organisation on board in order to protect the health, safety and working environment.
