An Executive MBA at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) is an in-depth learning experience comprising 80 days of class-work, and a roughly equivalent amount of individual and group study outside of class meetings, over a period of two years. Building on SSE´s almost 100 years of knowledge in business education, the SSE Executive MBA program takes a rigorous and integrated approach to business studies. The EMBA program includes a focus on critical skills such as financial analysis, accounting, and economics but also works to develop team values as well as coaching and leadership skills.

Since 1992, almost 750 qualified and motivated individuals have graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) Executive MBA program. Many of our graduates take up prominent positions in business and public administration.

The Executive MBA program at the Stockholm School of Economics has developed a structure that focuses on flexibility, breadth and depth as a means of offering participants more choice in their areas of specialization while maintaining high academic quality.

The successful Executive MBA applicant will have a substantial experience from business, probably as a manager or in a leading position. He or she will have the energy, drive and capacity to reach higher and do more.

We work with rolling admissions, i.e. we process applications as we receive them and notify candidates shortly after.

Based on your application, you will be called for an interview. Candidates are interviewed in depth regarding their current organizational and professional responsibilities and situation and asked to reflect on future plans and ambitions.

Candidates must have:

• at least three years of full-time undergraduate studies.
• at least 5 years of professional experience.
• proficiency in English.
• sponsorship by their company.
• GMAT scores will be taken into consideration but are not required.

Candidates who do not have a sufficient academic background, but can demonstrate exceptional professional achievement and the ability to study successfully at a postgraduate level, may apply through our special admissions quota.

An Executive MBA at SSE consists of two parts, a foundation in General Management and a Concentration.

The twelve-week General Management core curriculum is the foundation of the Executive MBA program. It provides a necessary base for any type of manager, in any organization. It is designed to enable our participants to take an active role in the running of their organization now and in the future.

The goal of the SSE Executive MBA program is not to offer a prefabricated "Executive MBA-in-a-box" but rather to provide the best and most challenging Executive MBA possible for each specific group of participants. Pedagogically, SSE Executive MBA focuses on acquisition of new knowledge through theoretical and empirical studies, with a strong focus on use of the knowledge in the participant's daily working environment. Reflection is an integral and critical part of this learning process.

The aim is to combine knowledge, experience and excellent learning processes. Thus our professors bring with them not only academic knowledge, but also information and knowledge from research carried out in close conjunction with industry.

In the General Management module, all participants are required to work on a year long Change Project.

This core project is central to SSE's focus on development of both the organization and the individual. Simply put, the participant is required to create lasting change within an organization. Program participants may work on this project individually or in pairs.

Project progress is assessed each class week through group meeting facilitated by a faculty advisor. The change project is frequently used by participants and their corporate sponsors to accomplish goals within the sponsoring corporation that might otherwise require the use of consultants.
