This CIMA accredited training course gives you the management tools to develop the finance function strategically. With focus on the budget process, planning and control system, you will develop a master plan for more dynamic financial management. During this course it will be discussed how a dynamic finance function can strengthen your personal leadership and role as Finance Manager across the organization and make the finance function an effective and active partner for its stakeholders.

The training agenda takes you through the process of defining strategic objectives for the finance function with inspiration from the principles of Beyond Budgeting. At this course you will develop an understanding of the traditional financial planning tools and elements that are still relevant for your company, but also elaborate new features that will enhance a better and more dynamic financial planning and control system.

At this course you will also be presented with a model that aims to involve macroeconomic factors in the design of a more dynamic planning model. Recent years have shown that macroeconomic conditions should increasingly be integrated into budget- and planning models. At this training course you are presented with a model that is used by several large international companies.

Tuition is based on both university research and practical experience. Teaching aims at a high level and requires a good knowledge of financial management from medium or large companies.

Lars Paredes

Lars Paredes has a Msc. (financial management) and an Executive MBA. Lars has 20 years of practical experience, of these 14 years as a management consultant including 10 years at KPMG Consulting. He has practical knowledge of Finance modeling, finance function process, organization and ERP-systems. Lars has designed and implemented financial shared service centre. He has a comprehensive experience within business transformation programs. Furthermore, Lars has extensive programme and managerial experience.

Bjarte Bogsnes

Bjarte Bogsnes is Chairman of Beyond Budgeting Round Table in Europe. He is Vice President of Performance Management Development at Statoil (NO) and heads up Statoil’s Beyond Budgeting implementation. He has extensive experience within both financial management and leadership in large international companies, including several years in the European petrochemical company Borealis as Vice President for Corporate Control and later for HR. At Borealis, he took the initiative to abolish traditional budgeting and has since been very active in this area. He graduated from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in 1983. He is author of the book ”Implementing Beyond Budgeting - Unlocking the Performance Potential” (Wiley U.S. 2009). Robert Kaplan from Harvard, who wrote the foreword to the book, calls Bogsnes “a leading practitioner in the Beyond Budgeting movement”.

Lars Oxenheim

Lars Oxelheim holds a Chair in International Business and Finance at the Lund Institute of Economic Research, Lund University. He is chairman of the research faculty and of the IB program. He is affiliated with the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (Institutet för Näringslivsforskning), Stockholm, and honorary professor at the Fudan University, Shanghai. Lars Oxelheim is the founding chairman of the Swedish Network for European Studies in Economics and Business (SNEE).
